Mama’s Top 5 Tips For A Healthier You
One of the central characters in the picture book, Superhero Faith, is “Mama” Faith's grandmother. In the story, Faith along with her sidekick dog, Sparkle are on a mission to help Mama get better as she battles with cancer. Through demonstrating daily acts of kindness, such as helping Mama find her cane, fanning her when she gets too hot and motivating her to eat her vegetables, Faith and Sparkle set the perfect example of leadership by helping their Mama recover by spreading their superhero powers of love, compassion and kindness. At the same time, Mama's personal story is another example of true leadership as she stands a real superhero among us.
In 2018, Mama was diagnosed with breast cancer. "The day you hear this combination of words, you initially deny it and try to find reasons in your life to start the battle," says Mama. And the reason for her battle became inspired by her young and beautiful granddaughter, Faith. Mama was determined to use strength, courage and Faith to overcome the battle and see her little superhero grow up and live life to the fullest.
Faith was Mama's inspiration and stimulus for recovery. During her battle, Mama experienced physical and internal metamorphosis. Acceptance of her condition was also a challenging step for Mama. However, with the help of medical treatments, receiving support, love and care from her beloved family and friends, as well as belief in God, Mama was able to get better. Faith and Sparkle played a huge role in Mama’s recovery as they helped to paint her life in the brightest colours. The stellar duo was always there for Mama when she needed them. Their love encouraged Mama to live life more fully, laugh more loudly, love more wholeheartedly and draw closer to God.
